Bitten Lip or Tongue
At Woodside Pediatric Dentistry, our emergency dentists in Warrenton are here to help your child get through dental emergencies. If your child has severely bitten their lip or tongue, it's important to take immediate action. Start by gently cleaning the bite with water to prevent any further infection. Afterward, apply a cold compress to the affected area to reduce or avoid swelling. A cold, wet towel or washcloth pressed firmly against the bite can provide relief and help minimize any discomfort. However, it's crucial to reach out to us at Woodside Pediatric Dentistry to assess the severity of the bite. Our experienced dentists will evaluate the situation and provide appropriate guidance and treatment to ensure your child's oral health and comfort. Don't hesitate to contact us in case of any dental emergency – we're here to assist you and your child every step of the way.
Object Caught In Teeth
We understand dental emergencies can be distressing for children and their parents. That's why our team of emergency dentists in Warrenton is here to provide the necessary assistance. If your child happens to have an object lodged between their teeth, we recommend using dental floss to gently remove it. However, it is crucial to avoid using any metal, plastic, or sharp instrument for this purpose, as it can cause harm. In case you have trouble in removing the object using dental floss, please don't hesitate to contact us for immediate help and guidance.
Broken, Chipped, or Fractured Tooth
Our emergency dentists in Warrenton are available to assist your child in navigating dental emergencies. If your child has experienced a chipped or broken tooth, it is best to rinse the affected area with warm water. Additionally, placing a cold compress on the facial area near the injury can help alleviate discomfort. Remember to recover any tooth fragments that may have been broken off. To minimize further damage, it is best to avoid biting into or consuming cold substances. If necessary, you can go ahead and administer pain medication to ease any discomfort. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us as soon as you can.

Knocked Out Tooth
Recover the tooth, making sure to hold it by the crown (top) and not the root end. Rinse, but do not clean or handle the tooth more than necessary. Reinsert the tooth in the socket and hold it in place using a clean piece of gauze or cloth. If the tooth cannot be reinserted, carry it in a cup containing Hanks Balanced Salt Solution (Save-A-Tooth) or Milk. If neither of those are available, place in water. Because time is essential, contact us as soon as possible or go to the Emergency Room.
Toothache
If your child complains of a toothache, rinse their mouth with warm water and inspect their teeth to ensure that nothing has become trapped between them. If the pain persists, apply a cold compress to relieve it. Heat, aspirin, or topical pain relievers should not be applied directly to the affected area because they can cause gum damage. Pain relievers for children can be taken orally. Make an appointment right away.
Broken Jaw
If you suspect your child has a broken jaw, go to the emergency room right away.
